Free Debt Relief : Don’t Believe the Hype

There’s always something being hyped now days. Playstations and Elmos and whatever else they can find. It’s cool. I understand that to get people to buy lots of stuff for lots of money you have to have lots of sizzle. I understand something about marketing. I understand selling and buying and debt.
What I don’t understand is being willing to pay hundreds of dollars to have someone stand in line so you can buy a video game at full price on the first day it’s released. I’m pretty sure that doesn’t make you cool; I’m certain it doesn’t make you bright. Spend your money on what you like but come on. Really is that kind of stuff so important.
Maybe it’s about bragging rights. “I got playstation three the first day plus I got catheterized so I could play it 24-7. Ain’t I cool?” Stupid.
I am I being too harsh? Too judgmental? Maybe. Maybe the frenzy is all part of the “impetuosity of youth”. Maybe I’m getting old. I hope so, given the alternative old is better. :-)

Well, as usual after a good rant. I need to come up with some point. I think I’ll go with the following points:

  • Marketing often convinces people to buy stuff they don’t need for more than it worth.
  • If it was worth the price why would it need to be marketed so heavily?
  • I wish I had something to market. I like money as much as the next guy.
  • Stuff doesn’t make you cool but it may make you broke.
  • Don’t go into debt for stuff if you can help it. Especially stuff that is heavily hyped.
  • The less you spend on stuff the more you’ll have. Not more stuff but more freedom, more cash, and more options.
  • Debt steals your present and future to pay for stuff you got in the past.
  • Well, that’s it for today. Not particularly profound but every little bit helps.Change your thinking change you life.
