Free Debt Relief : Getting a Credit Report

I’m trying to keep track of my progress escaping my debt troubles. I’m keeping a running total of my debts, keeping an eye on my spending and I’m checking my credit report. Since I just went through a house purchase and I’m not planning to refinance unless the rates drop significantly I am not checking my credit reports frequently.

I am checking them every few months to make sure the good stuff gets reported and they are following my progress. I figure by the time I’m ready to refinance I’ll have improved my fico score so I can improve the interest rate I have on my loan.

Unfortunately the fico score perhaps the second most important number in modern American life is not included with the free credit report you’re entitled to annually. Last I heard it costs about $6 buy that number. I personally think it should be included tin the free report.
I figure you should be checking yours also if you’re serious about debt relief. Right now I check one company ’s report every 4 months. You can get your report by mail, by phone or online.

Have fun
