Free Debt Relief : Random Tips for Saving Energy, part 1

One of the central rules of wise money is “it’s not how much you make it is how much you keep.” People say it all the time. I even agree with it ; as far as it goes. (Side Note : Some people have said I’ll stubborn , disagreeable, recalcitrant and contrary. All I can say is Thanks You and I would agree with you all more if you weren’t wrong so often.) My corollary is “the more you make the more you have a chance to keep”. So in the spirit of keeping. I present the following Energy saving tips:

  • Switch from incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescents. I know you’ve heard it before but have you done it. It might be a good Idea if you want to use the light to actually see to replace the old incandescent with the fluorescent designed to replace the next wattage up. In other words replace the 75 watt incandescent the fluorescent designed to replace a hundred watt incandescent. You’ll still say money with the bonus of being able to see.
  • Turn the lights out when you leave the room.
  • Hot water is a big expense. Keeping 50 or 75 gallons of water at 140 degrees 24-7 can really add to you energy bill. Especially if your water heater is in an unheated space. Save some of that money by turning your thermostat down to 120 degrees. If you have want hotter water to fill a bath tub for a long hot soak turn the thermostat up temporarily an hour or so befor e bath time then turn it back down afer bath time is over.
  • If it’s time to replace your hotwater heater check out the tankless hot water heaters. the come in a variety of model include pilotless electric start gas models and model that use the force of the water flow through the heater ignite the burner. As a bonus the US Government is giving up to a $300 dollar tax credit if you install a tankless water heater.
  • Clean the heat exchangers on the back of the refrigerator.

Well that enough for now. I’ll continue this later. Hasta la vista.
