I’ve been reading about what you need to do to start a small business in the Great state of Maryland, USA. Seems simple enough. Fill out a one page form, pay a hundred dollars and your in business. Now show me the Money.

Only problem is I don’t have a single business idea, I have a dozen. I keep reading that you should do something you love but “How do you know you’ll love it until you do it?” And even more importantly How do i create a business that makes money? I probably just need to pick something and start it. Start something low investment micro business and see if I can make it work. If it doesn’t work, start something new with what I learned and try again.

I’m starting by writing a mini business plan for each business that I’m researching in order to figure out if the businesses can work and where they could fit in the income side of my balance sheet. Once I figure out important things like the costs of doing business, where the customers are, if they have money , are they willing to spend it and on what. I’ll have a small business that I will truly love , one that makes money. Or rather has the potential to make money. Until I find that one big thing I’m going to try different things and keep my eyes open. I need to hustle.

Hustling is one of the most important skills a person looking to start a business can have. And by hustle I don’t mean the disco dance. I mean hustle for living. I mean turning $1 into $2, $2 into $4, etc by finding a need and satisfying that need. I believe that a person needs to be looking for the opportunities to make a little extra money will find them and ultimately find that thing the love.

So what does this have to do with debt relief? The simple answer is plenty. Paying your debts is not just about spending less and not wasting money it is about trying to make more so you can pay your debts off more quickly. Having your own business means your a little less vulnerable to getting “Laid off”. Having a little side business means you have more financial flexibility and maybe the ability to keep someone from coming to take your house.

So start Hustling. Start a low risk business. Why because nobody can to show you the money unless your looking.
