“Retire!?! I’d love to retire. You got a gun I can borrow?”

I am truly ready to retire. Except for the whole, I don’t have enough money to retire thing. I could leave my job tomorrow and never go back. Unfortunately I am a little short of the money I need to live the next 40 or 50 years and I’m going to remain short of funds for a while it seems. My wife and I are working running side businesses and doing all we can to reduce our expenses but given the state of the economy and our bank accounts, retirement is at least 20 to 25 years away.

The plan is to survive the coming economic troubles and concentrate on increasing our income sources. It is probably going to mean longer hours and some less well paid hours . Whatever it takes to make ends meet.

ps When is the government going to give us an economic bail out? I think it might be necessary because the economy is so interconnected and these stupid companies will drag us with them if and when they go but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
