Personal Debt Relief : That New Car Smell

It looks like it’s finally going to happen. I’m finally going to get rid of my 1995 Honda Accord. I’m going to miss the oil leak, the on-again off-again busted radio, and the numerous dings scrapes and dents you get is a world where everyone seems to drive by Braille. I’ll miss that car. I’ll also regret the need to add to my debt. I haven’t had a car payment for a long time.
My car only has 166,000 miles on it but its useful life is coming to the end since I need an emissions inspection and with the oil leak my car probably won’t pass. It was the first car I ever brought and I paid too much. I’ve been trying to make it last so I could get my money’s worth. Well…. That’s over now. Now I have to find a replacement.
My plan is to buy a used car. It seems to me to be best to avoid the instant depreciation involved in driving a new car off the lot. I’m arranging financing for the car before I go looking either at Capital One or my credit union. Then I’m going in to negotiate for the< car. I have until September 30th to get the car so I’m not in a terrible rush but I will need a car before October. I have my people out looking and I hopefully won’t have a problem finding something in the next month.
Wish me luck. Oh, and if any of you know where I can find a bottle of that “New Car Smell” spray I’d appreciate the heads up.
